Predictions about online learning

In 2009, Ambient Insight Research predicted a sharp rise in self-paced online learning. (See Negal, D. (2009, October) Most college students to take classes online by 2014. Campus Technology, [Electronic Version].) More recently they identified the United States as "the top buying country of Mobile Learning, followed by Japan, South Korea, the UK, China, and Taiwan. Combined, these six countries accounted for 75.1% of the total 2010 global Mobile Learning market." (See The US Market for Mobile Learning Products and Services: 2010-2015 Forecast and Analysis.) While healthcare and K-12 are identified as the leaders in this movement, theological educators need to be aware of these trends and consider their implications for the future.
